Are we in pain? – Google Trends Data Visualization

Google Trends shows a significant increase in searches related to different kinds of physical pain. Here is how the trend gos for generic pain searches:

And since we are now asking Google questions more than ever there is an upward trend for questions related to pain:

And while it seems like we are in physicial pain more than ever before I am curious if we are also struggling with emotional pain and whether we are intrested in finding out more about mental health issues:

Searches related to anxiety show a big increase in searces in the past year. Searches about depression however intrestingly show a somewhat steady trend, with a dip during 2007 – 2009. Depression seems to have had a peak in 2017 – 2018 and a decline in 2020, which is interesitng considering the challenges we all faced then.

Interest in pshycological trauma is also at an all time high although this interest had its other peaks in previous years. Interest in PTSD shows a very similar trend to Depression since 2017 but the trend reports a steady increase since 2004.
